It was with much sorrow I learn of the passing of my dear friend Bob. We actually never really knew each other but knew each other well through our several years of e-mails and stories. We had much to share having both served in the Korean war during the same period and over the years I came to know him well and we shared families, love, our experiences, our lives, and our loves. likes, and dislikes Bob Young was a good man, a fine soldier, a patriot, and a true friend and I will miss him greatly. My favorite memories are of the McDonald Gang having coffee together. Dad enjoyed so much coming to Rockland to sit and shoot the bull with the boys. Bob always had a quick smart comment to share back and great stories. He was so thoughtful at dads funeral and was a very caring man. I will miss him very much. I still vividly remember the first time I saw Bob and Pete (Richard) after they got back from Korea via a Boston-area hospital. I was walking up North Main Street on the way home to James Street when this old jalopy pulled up beside me with Pete behind the wheel and Bob in the passenger seat. "Hop on, Eddie, and we'll take you home" said Bob. So I jumped onto the running board, stuck an arm through the open window to hang on, and was delivered intact!

Bob had a youthful attitude and young heart that allowed him to connect with young and old.
